Laura Ruth Dunlop

My Paternal great Aunt

Laura (known as Ruth) married Brian Stanger (known as Geoff) and they had three children, Malcolm, Stuart and Tiarna.

Aunty Ruth  and I bonded when I first met her as a fifteen year old who had just moved from Darwin to Epping NSW.  She was a very warm and loving woman with a great sense of humour. She lived in an old house in Beecroft and, although still married,  she and her husband lived in separate quarters.  I sometimes stayed the night with her which was great fun.  We'd sit up in bed eating cornflakes for dinner and watching Eastenders and Sale of the Century.  She'd tell me stories about her childhood, one being how Grandma (Norma) was really a mother to her as their own mother was so sick.  She also said that their father was a strict disciplinarian.   It was in late 1980 that we formed our relationship and unfortunately she died only a year later.
